Dear Mayfield Families,
The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. This week, we will conduct our first school-wide safety drills of the school year to help students become familiar with our emergency procedures.
Fire Drill - Tuesday, August 18
On Tuesday, August 18, we will conduct our first fire drill of the year. Students and staff will practice safely and orderly exiting the school building and following directions to ensure everyone is accounted for and safe. Teachers will review expectations with students prior to the drill to help make the experience calm and successful.
HOLD Procedure Practice - Friday, August 21
On Friday, August 21, we will practice our HOLD procedure. A HOLD is used when we need to clear the hallways and ensure that all students and staff remain in their classrooms while normal classroom activities continue.
During this practice, we will also review the five Standard Response Protocols used throughout our school division:
HOLD – Stay in the classroom and clear the hallways.
SECURE – Get inside and lock exterior doors.
LOCKDOWN – Locks, lights, out of sight.
EVACUATE – Move to a designated safe location.
SHELTER – Take safety measures appropriate to the situation.
Attached is information about the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) used in all schools across our district. We encourage families to review these procedures and discuss them with their children.
You can learn more about the Standard Response Protocol by visiting:
Thank you for your partnership in helping us maintain a safe and prepared learning environment for all students.
Sincerely,
Dr. Frischkorn, Principal

Thank you all for an amazing first three days of the school year

While AI (Artificial Intelligence) can support learning and creativity, students need to understand that AI is a tool that requires responsible and thoughtful use.
Our school/district is committed to promoting digital citizenship and AI literacy to help students think critically, protect their privacy, and use technology safely and ethically.
We encourage families to review the attached “Understanding AI & Keeping Your Child Safe Online” resource for helpful information and guidance. Working together, we can ensure technology remains a safe and positive part of every child’s learning experience
