Hello Mayfield Intermediate families,
This is a message to inform you that we conducted our first lockdown drill of the school year today, August 28. This drill is part of our safety plan and is required by Manassas City School Board policy. Notification regarding our Lockdown drill was communicated to families through our August 22, 2025, Mayfield Messenger update.
The students and staff did a tremendous job, and the drill was completed successfully in under 15 minutes. We will continue to practice a variety of safety drills throughout the year, including fire, tornado, and additional lockdown drills, to ensure that everyone knows how to respond in a real emergency.
We understand that these drills can sometimes be concerning for students. If your child has any worries or questions, please encourage them to speak with their teacher or one of our school counselors. Families can learn more about our Standard Response Protocol by visiting the following website: https://iloveuguys.org/The-Standard-Response-Protocol.html
I appreciate your support as we work to keep our students and staff safe.
Thanks,
Dr. Frischkorn
