Over the next month, the OHS Counseling Department, teaching faculty, and staff will host a series of academic advising programs and events to assist students and families in making informed decisions about courses for the 2026–2027 school year. Please take advantage of these opportunities and resources.
Curriculum Night
Thursday, January 8, 2026 | 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Location: OHS Auditorium & Commons

All parents and students are invited to attend this open house event where staff from various departments will showcase classes and answer questions. At 6:30 PM, rising 9th graders will attend a short presentation about transitioning to high school and the course selection process.
In addition, we will offer two mini-sessions for current OHS families:

Learn about GT Seminars and pathways such as the AP Capstone Diploma and Governor’s School at Innovation Park.
Course Selection & College Admissions
Explore how academic progress and course choices can influence college admittance.

Teachers will share course options and differences between standard and advanced classes during class.
Week of Jan 20: Teacher Feedback Days
Teachers provide recommendations eventually viewable in PowerSchool.
Jan 20: Course Information Fair (Special Bell Schedule)
Students in grades 9-11 will participate in a course selection fair, where students will have four opportunities to attend presentations in classrooms throughout the building. The purpose is for teachers to inform students interested in elective and Advanced Placement courses.
Jan 26: Course Selection Begins
Students meet individually with counselors to review grades, recommendations, and graduation requirements.
Rising 12th: Jan 26–Feb 6
Rising 11th: Feb 5–Feb 13
Rising 10th: Feb 17–Feb 24
