Osbourn High School Named a Special Olympics National Unified Champion School
National recognition honors school’s commitment to inclusion and Unified Sports
Osbourn High School has been named a Special Olympics National Unified Champion School®, joining an elite group of schools across the country recognized for their dedication to inclusion, respect, and meaningful opportunities for students of all abilities.
This prestigious honor is awarded to schools that meet national standards of excellence in three areas: Unified Sports®, inclusive youth leadership, and whole-school engagement. Osbourn has excelled in each area, fostering an environment where every student is welcomed, supported, and empowered.
Osbourn offers students opportunities throughout the year to compete side by side:
Year-round: Unified Physical Education
Fall: Unified Kickball
Winter: Unified Basketball and Unified Cheer
The school’s Unified Eagles Club brings together students with and without intellectual disabilities to build friendships, promote acceptance, and strengthen the school community. The club’s leadership team, comprised equally of students with and without intellectual disabilities, plans social activities, service projects, and school-wide awareness campaigns.
Osbourn hosts a series of events designed to connect students and inspire school-wide participation, including:
Choose to Include Campaign – September 19
Under the Lights Unified Competitions – September 26
BeYOUnified Campaign – January 16
Down Syndrome Awareness Day – March 21
Autism Awareness Month Activities – April
Special Olympics Feet Meet – April 24
These initiatives have helped break down barriers, build friendships, and promote understanding throughout the school.
