AVID

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a rigorous college preparatory program designed for students with recognized academic potential, an individual determination to succeed, and a desire to take challenging courses that lead to four-year college enrollment. AVID's mission is to "close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society."

2014-2015 marked the beginning of AVID as part of the program of studies at OHS.  The curriculum features writing, inquiry, collaboration, reading, note-taking, study skills, and college/career/motivational activities.

AVID at OHS provides professional and college-level tutors in the classroom twice a week. AVID tutors also offer individual tutoring outside of class in which all students at Osbourn are welcome to participate

To better understand what different colleges offer, OHS AVID students also have the opportunity to visit universities in the area.

Parents are an essential part of the program and its success, and are invited and encouraged to communicate with our AVID site team, especially their student's AVID elective teacher.
