Prior to the drill, teachers will review lockdown procedures with students in an age-appropriate manner, including how to secure their classroom and what to do during a lockdown. During the drill, classroom doors will be closed and locked, and students and staff will remain quiet and follow established safety procedures.
Please know that this is a planned practice drill designed to ensure that our students and staff are prepared to respond safely and appropriately in the event of an emergency.
This notification is being provided in accordance with Virginia Code, which requires schools to notify families at least 24 hours prior to conducting a lockdown drill.

Dear Haydon Families,
We are so excited to welcome our students for the first day of school tomorrow! As we prepare for a great start to the school year, please keep these few reminders in mind:
Please send your student to school with a backpack and refillable water bottle.
Bus rider families: Please arrive at the bus stop 5–10 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time. We also appreciate your patience during the first few days of school. Buses may run a little behind schedule as students, families, and drivers get settled into their new routines.
Walkers and Kiss & Ride families: Parents and guardians will not be able to enter the building to walk students to their classrooms. Our staff will be ready to greet students and help them get where they need to go.
We know that sending your child off on the first day—especially for the very first time—can bring a mix of excitement and nervousness. Please know that we will be ready to welcome your children with care, help them feel comfortable, and make sure they have a wonderful first day.
We can’t wait to see our Haydon Hawks tomorrow!

The Summer Meals Program is still taking place at OHS until July 23. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, or age, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided, on a first-come, first-served basis, at the sites and times as follows:
