Manassas, VA — Manassas City Public Schools (MCPS) is pleased to announce a new initiative to provide mental health support to all students. The division has been selected as a recipient of a telehealth grant from the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).

This grant represents a direct investment in the well-being of MCPS students, underscoring the division’s commitment to supporting the “whole child”, academically, socially, and emotionally.

What This Means for Families

  • Eligibility for All: Every student enrolled in MCPS will be eligible to receive school-based mental health telehealth services through a qualified provider.

  • Convenient Access: Services may be delivered at school or at home, helping to remove common barriers such as transportation or limited provider availability.

  • A Focus on Students: The initiative affirms the division’s dedication to fostering safe, supportive learning environments where students can thrive both in and out of the classroom.

“This opportunity allows us to provide timely, accessible support for our students,” said Dr. Kevin Newman, Superintendent of Schools. “We are grateful for the partnership with DBHDS and the continued investment in the success and well-being of Manassas City students.”

MCPS is currently in the process of selecting a qualified mental health provider to ensure that services meet the diverse needs of its students. Once the provider is finalized, the division will share more information with families about how to access these services and when implementation will begin.
