Manassas, Va. – At its July 8 meeting, the School Board of the City of Manassas approved an agreement with K12 Virtual Schools L.L.C., officially launching the Virginia Virtual Academy at Manassas City Public Schools (MCPS). This partnership will establish the Virginia Virtual Academy of Manassas as the tenth school within the division, serving as another pathway for MCPS.
Through this partnership, MCPS has the capacity to enroll up to 3,890 out-of-district students in the online program without impacting local funding for current MCPS students. There is no cost to MCPS for out-of-district students. Each out-of-district student’s state-allocated funding will cover operational costs, ensuring that the program is self-sustaining while serving as a future revenue source for the division.
Next, the division will meet with K12 Virtual Schools to finalize enrollment requirements, grade levels to be offered, and startup procedures, ensuring the program is ready for students on the first day of school.
