Long Term Substitute Pay Rates and Minimum Requirements
Pay begins on day one (1) of the assignment.

Application Process
Complete a Manassas City Public Schools substitute application, which can be found at MCPS Job Listings.
Include two (2) professional references from current/previous supervisor(s) in the application.
If you hold a current Virginia teaching license or teaching license from another state or have an expired Virginia teaching license, provide a copy in the application.
Once your completed application is received, it will be reviewed by the Human Resources Specialist.
If you are not qualified, you will receive a communication message informing you of your status.
If you are qualified, you will receive an email to complete a one-way video interview using Spark Hire. The email will include detailed instructions as well as a mandatory completion date.
Your interview responses will be reviewed. If the decision is made to proceed with your application, you will be contacted with further instructions regarding the information in Steps 8 through 11.
You will be required to submit a fingerprinting and a criminal record check. Employment is contingent upon receipt, review, and acceptance of these results.
You will be required to successfully pass a Virginia Department of Social Services Background Check.
MCPS participates in E-Verify and you will be required to present non-expired documentation validating that you can legally work in the U.S.. You can view a list of acceptable documents here.
A hard copy of a negative medical Tuberculosis (TB) test dated within the last 12 months will be required for employment.
Official, sealed transcripts will be required for employment. Copies will not be accepted.
Application Process for Former Employees
All Substitute teacher applicants must meet current eligibility requirements to be approved as a Substitute teacher.

Human Resources will determine if any updated documents or training is required and will contact you with further instructions.
