Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State (ACCESS)

The United States Department of Education and the Virginia Department of Education require the Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State (ACCESS) assessment for English Language Learners (ELL), Alternate ACCESS for ELLs, and ELP Checklists to be administered to students under secure, standardized testing conditions in the presence of school personnel.

Participation

MCPS encourages all EL students to participate in state and federally mandated assessments. Parents/Guardians who wish to refuse participation for their student should email their refusal to the School Testing Coordinator at their child’s school.
