Osbourn High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) students win Gold in the categories of Barbering, Crime Scene Investigation and Esthetics at the 2018 Virginia SkillsUSA Competition. 

Osbourn High School CTE Cosmetology teacher named the 2018 Virginia Association of Trade and Industrial Educators Teacher of the Year. 

Jennie Dean Elementary School is recognized by the Virginia Technology and Engineering Education Association for excellence in elementary technology education, earning a Program of the Year award. 

Haydon Elementary School is home to the first Dual Language Spanish Immersion Program for MCPS. The program aims to have students entering the program in Kindergarten have the option to learn a third language by the time the enter high school or continue their advanced study of Spanish.

Round Elementary School’s First Lego League (FLL) team competes at the state level held at James Madison University after winning first place in the Research Presentation category at the regional event. The team scored in the top three for all participating categories.

OHS graduating seniors have secured $1.5 million or more in scholarships each year since 2013. The highest amount earned by any graduating class in the last five years was the class of 2016 with $2.1 million.

The Osbourn High School (OHS) student council has been recognized for their exemplary record of leadership and community service activities. The council is the recipient of multiple state and national awards, including the National Gold Council of Excellence Award by the National Association of Student Councils (NASC).

Manassas City Public Schools (MCPS) is the recipient of the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) distinguished Budget Presentation Award for multiple years. 

Osbourn High School is one of the best places in the nation when it comes to readying teens for college. The school recently earned SILVER STATUS in U.S. News and Report's annual “Best High Schools” list and ranks in the top 16 percent of high schools in Virginia.

Osbourn High school was one of three schools in the entire D.C. region invited to attend an exclusive workshop at the White House.

The Mayfield 6th Grade Band earned four Superior Ratings (the highest mark possible) at the Virginia Band and Orchestra 2016 Spring Assessment.

Osbourn High School student was named a finalist in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. Additionally, two Osbourn students received a letter of Commendation form the National Merits Scholarship Program for outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in 2014.

A business teacher at Osbourn High School (OHS), has been named Secondary Teacher of the Year for 2016 by the National Business Education Association (NBEA).

Congratulations to Mayfield Bobcats 5! The VEX IQ Robotics team made it to the final round at the 2016 Virginia State Championship. In the finals, Mayfield Bobcats 5 finished in fourth place out of 10 teams.

Virginia Business identifies MCPS as a leader in paving the way for reformed preschool education in the state.

MCPS was featured nationally in EdTech Magazine for revamping technology that supports student learning.

MCPS and the City of Manassas received the 2013 Award for Excellence in Local Government by the Alliance for Innovation in Government for their joint CIP process.

Weems Elementary School is among only 24 schools nationwide to receive the 2015 National Excellence in Urban Education Award, which is recognized by the National Center for Urban Schools Transformation, for generating strong test results, high rates of attendance, and excellent student behavior among each demographic group of students enrolled.

The Osbourn High School Performing Arts Department was recently one of eight schools nationally presented with the GRAMMY Foundation Signature Enterprise Award. The school was previously recognized as one of 13 schools across the country as a 2015 GRAMMY Signature School for their efforts in performing arts. The award will allow more students to incorporate music studies into their education with access to the latest in music technology. The recognition cites U.S. public high schools that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to music education during an academic school year and beyond.

MCPS was recognized by the Virginia School Boards Association for its successful K-12 programs in Virginia’s public schools for spring 2015. The OHS Virtual/Blended Learning Initiative and Career & Technical Education were both featured.

The Metz Robotics team won the Teamwork Challenge Award at the 2014-15 Northern Virginia VEX IQ Challenge.  One of the robotics teams competed in the VEX IR High Rise Challenge Virginia State Championship.

OHS students competed at the International Sustainable World Energy, Engineering, and Environment Project (ISWEEP) Olympiad held in Texas.  The team won second place with their project on enzymatic biofuel cells.

Students from Manassas City Public Schools are part of a team recognized in 2015 for their idea on a new App that would decrease distractions while driving.

In 2021, two MCPS teachers were selected as winners of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Virginia Teacher of the Year award: Gabrielle Patterson Boltz (elementary level) and Elizabeth Stone (junior high level).

Manassas City Public Schools’ Dr. Laura Goldzung has earned the 2021-22 Project Lead The Way National Administrator of the Year award for her work implementing project-based learning at Baldwin Elementary School, which has been a PLTW Launch School since 2017.

Cathy Drummond, music teacher at Round Elementary School, was recognized at the third annual "American Education Week - Honoring Our Educators" presented by the Woodbridge & Manassas Branches of the American Association of University Women.
