Welcome to the Department of Information Technology (IT)

IT works to deliver transformative technology services and leadership in an efficient, equitable, and secure manner in order to foster a 21st Century learning environment and promote operational excellence. In addition, the department provides the leadership, oversight, and technical skills to establish an information technology architecture that supports Manassas City Public Schools' vision, mission, and beliefs.

Information Technology provides services in the following areas:

  • Enterprise Systems: IT implements and maintains information systems that support MCPS enterprise operations for students and staff. These systems include domain services, email and archival, network storage, mobile device management, computer imaging and patch management.

  • Networking: Ensuring that the networking infrastructure is always up and has available capacity is critical to the success of the Division. IT administers Internet connectivity, network routing and switching equipment, wireless access, fiber-optic and copper data cabling, and network security.

  • Hardware: The department oversees technology hardware resources and strives to maintain them in operational order. This standardized hardware includes desktop and laptop computers, tablet computers, networked printers, multi-function copiers, interactive boards and projection systems.

  • Communications: Numerous telecommunications infrastructures operate daily to meet instructional and administrative needs. These systems include enterprise IP-based telephones, voice mail services, cell phones, and public address and master clock systems.

  • Customer Support: A key component to IT's support is end-user assistance in the areas of general help desk resolution and repair services, project management administration, and technology purchasing oversight.
