Career & Technical Education (CTE)

MCPS Career Technical Education (CTE) provides students with the academic and technical skills, knowledge and training necessary to succeed in a wide range of career paths.  Our CTE programs prepare students for the world of work by introducing them to workplace readiness skills and rigorous academic content related to their career interests. Programs are offered to students in a variety of ways from Kindergarten through 12th grade.

MCPS Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee

The CTE Advisory Committee supports teachers, students and businesses in developing, establishing, maintaining and evaluating CTE programs, K-12, to ensure students are well prepared for the world of work upon graduation.

CTE Advisory Committees includes representation from:

The CTE Advisory Committee meets regularly throughout the calendar year and supports CTE related events and programs.

High Quality Work-Based Learning

Work-based learning (WBL) is an important part of career and technical education (CTE) classes because it helps students connect academic learning to real-world skills and career opportunities:
