What is a Family Liaison?
A Family Liaison is a person who works to bridge communication and strengthen relationships between school, home, and community.
How can the Family Liaison help me?
Good communication between the students' home and their school is vital for your child's academic success. The family liaison will listen to your concerns and work with you to ensure that your circumstances, questions, or feedback is communicated with the appropriate parties. They will help you if you need to find ways to overcome hurdles that may be preventing your child's success in school. They can help inform you of ways to get involved, stay informed, and access resources to help your child do their best socially and academically.
What kind of assistance can the Family Liaison provide?
Information/Resources
Provide you with access to resources for you and your family.
Example: food, clothing referrals, free/low-cost clinics, etc.
Discuss ways you can be more involved in your child’s education and additional ways to support them at home.
Answer questions you may have about school rules and regulations.
Help you set up your Parent Portal or Remind account.
Provide you with a personal tour of the school and explain the programs and resources available to you and your child.
Conferences
They work closely with the school guidance counselors, and can help arrange meetings between you and your child's teachers or school administrators.
At your request, they can accompany you to a parent-teacher conference, or other meetings at the school for additional support if resources are needed.
