Weems TAG Program Featured in City Newsletter for Playground Planning
Third and fourth grade students at Weems Elementary School have worked diligently over the past year to make their vision for a new playground a reality. Last spring, the class teamed up with the city's Community Development team on the "Playground Planning" project after city planners presented the process of designing a community park to the students as part of the school's Talents and Gifts (TAG) Program. The process was both engaging and hands-on for participating students. Read more about it in the April 2017 Connection Newsletter!
TAG at Weems is an built on the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM). Enrichment Clusters offered at the school are designed to enhance students' learning experience and talent development by utilizing their strengths and interests. Students are encouraged to participate in activity-based learning environments that focus on higher order thinking skills. Please visit the Weems website for more information about the TAG program.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on April 26, 2017 at 3 p.m. at the site of the new playground where a plaque will also be installed, highlighting the project and participating students.
