Baldwin Intermediate Teams Up with George Mason, Smithsonian to help scientists determine age of turtle native to Virginia
January 3, 2019...Baldwin Intermediate School has teamed up with George Mason University and the Smithsonian on a project to determine the age of a turtle by looking at its shell.
Baldwin Intermediate School participated in the box turtle Model-Eliciting Activity (MEA) on Wednesday, December 19th. MEAs are designed as open-ended and allow for STEM integration. Students were able to analyze the data and make a plan for scientists to find the age of turtles native to Virginia. This opportunity allowed for collaboration, problem-solving, and making connections. Way to go, Huskies!
