School Board Announces New Principal of Baldwin Intermediate

FinneganMarch 24, 2022 - Juliet Finnegan has been named the new principal of Baldwin Intermediate School. The announcement was made during the March 22, 2022, school board meeting. Finnegan will begin her new assignment July 1.

Finnegan has worked in a public school setting for more than 20 years. She has served as both a classroom teacher, dean and most recently, an assistant principal.

“I am excited and eager to be a lead learner and work alongside staff to promote the academic growth of all students,” Finnegan said.

Finnegan received both her bachelor’s and master’s at the University of Virginia. She is currently working toward her doctorate in educational leadership and curriculum and instruction from Liberty University. She is also certified in educational administration.

Her teaching career began in Fairfax County in 1999. Finnegan has taught fifth grade and middle school math in both Fairfax and Loudoun counties. In 2016, she made the move to an administrative role. She first served as a dean at Sterling Middle School before she transitioned into her current assistant principal role.

Finnegan is a strong proponent of project-based learning and targeted instruction. She is also an advocate for collaborative and engaged learning environments for both students and staff. During her tenure as an administrator, Finnegan said she has helped increase family engagement, inclusivity for special education students and fundraising profits.

She has presented at conferences for the Virginia Middle School Association as well as the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals on topics such as equity, leadership and social and emotional learning (SEL). She has also created and led multiple professional development sessions for staff.

“Mrs. Finnegan has demonstrated a passion for improving instruction and school culture to achieve student success,” said Superintendent Dr. Kevin Newman. “We look forward to working with her and our Baldwin Intermediate School community.”

Baldwin Intermediate School is one of two intermediate schools in Manassas City and serves approximately 275 students in fifth and sixth grade.
