Osbourn High School Class of 2018 Soars
June 30, 2018...The Osbourn High School (OHS) graduating class of 2018 proudly shared plans for their continued journey, post high school, through colorful displays on their caps during the school’s annual ‘Senior Walk’ celebration through the City’s elementary, intermediate and middle schools. This event, which was held days before graduation, has become a proud tradition, not only among the high school students, but also for their former teachers and the many students at the eight other schools in the district who greet them with signs and applause. The class graduated approximately 440 students on Tuesday, June 12 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow.
Another point of pride for OHS is the celebration of scholarship awards for each graduating class. This year, the Class of 2018 was awarded approximately $1.6 million in scholarships. The Manassas City Public Schools Education Foundation awarded seven students with scholarships totaling $14K, and four students received the Manassas Rotary Club Vocation Technical and Career Scholarship totaling $10K.
Additionally, OHS seniors received substantial scholarships from attending universities, including three students who received over $125K each. A number of students received more than one scholarship with one student leader earning more than five, totaling over $30K.
OHS graduating seniors have secured $1.5 million or more in scholarships each year since 2013. The highest amount earned by any graduating class in the last five years was the class of 2016 with $2.1 million.
