School Board Names New Principal at Round Elementary
July 3, 2018...The School Board of the City of Manassas has named Andrew Wilson as the new principal of Round Elementary School. The appointment was made during the School Board’s special meeting on July 2. He will begin his new assignment on July 3rd.
Wilson has served as an assistant principal at Osbourn High School (OHS) since 2014. Additionally, he served as acting principal at the school from March to June 2017 and as dean of students in 2013, a position he held for one year. Prior to his tenure at Osbourn, Wilson worked as a dean of students at Falls Church High School (FCHS) in Fairfax County. His teaching experience includes special education mathematics and the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program at FCHS.
“Mr. Wilson has proven himself as a leader at Osbourn High School and within Manassas City Public Schools, said Kevin Newman, Superintendent of Schools. “He is already focused on using data to improve student achievement and has a student-centered vision that will serve the Round community well.”
Wilson earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from James Madison University and a master’s degree in special education from the University of Virginia. He also holds licenses in special education K-12, as well as pre-k through grade 12 administration and supervision.
Round is one of five elementary schools in the City of Manassas and serves approximately 575 students in grades pre-k through fourth grade.
