Osbourn Earns Virginia Honor Band Designation

March 8, 2019...Osbourn High School (OHS) has received the highest honor awarded by the Virginia Band & Orchestra Director's Association (VBODA), which recognizes schools that demonstrate excellence with a comprehensive Band program.

OHS qualified as a Virginia Honor Band for the first time in over 20 years after the Marching Band earned a Superior rating during a fall 2018 assessment and the Symphonic Band (pictured below) earned a Superior rating at a February 2019 assessment. A Superior rating is the highest score available during assessments, which focus on sight-reading music and stage performance. The last time the Symphonic Band earned a Superior rating was in 2007. Additionally, Concert Band has improved year over year, earning an Excellent Rating at the recent assessment.

The OHS Band Program is led by Director of Bands Andrew Wassum.  Congratulations to all involved!
