Jennie Dean Elementary is winner of 'Redskins Read' Program
April 16, 2018...Congratulations to fourth graders at Jennie Dean Elementary School! They have won second place in the 2017—2018 'Redskins Read' Program.
The annual program is open to schools in Maryland, Virginia and DC to encourage reading. Each participating school is then provided the opportunity to earn entries into the grand prize drawing through the submission of progress reports, social media posts, top student entries and more. At the conclusion of this year’s program, there were a total of 3236 entries in the grand prize drawing.
About Redskins Reads: In an effort to make reading more fun for elementary students, the Redskins Charitable Foundation created the Redskins Read Program focusing on a playbook for students to study the Xs and Os of reading! The Redskins Read Playbook provides monthly prompts for students to analyze a book(s) of their choice, focusing on different areas of the story (e.g. characters, setting, plot). This supplemental learning tool incentivizes 4th and 5th grade students by providing monthly prizes and the chance to host a Redskins event with current players at their school in the spring! The program runs from September – March.
