Outstanding Elementary Student of the Year Award goes to BIS Student

August 11, 2022 -- During the Superintendent’s Announcements and Spotlights at the August 9, 2022, School Board meeting, Baldwin Intermediate’s Grayson Reid was recognized for being named Outstanding Elementary Student of the Year by the Virginia Association for the Gifted (VA Gifted). The selection committee commended Grayson for his “hard work and fine character.”

Now in sixth grade, Grayson participates in the Gifted and Talented program at his school.

“We’re proud to have Grayson represent us. He’s naturally inquisitive and takes initiative when looking at worldly issues,” said Anthony Vargas, Supervisor of Gifted and Talented for Manassas City Public Schools. I continue to be impressed by Grayson every single day. Thank you, Grayson, for showcasing your talent and passion.”

The Outstanding Elementary Student of the Year award recognized outstanding student accomplishment in the area of academics, the arts, or leadership. It is the vision of the “Virginia Association for the Gifted and its members [to] connect and empower parents, students, and educators to be active and innovative advocates for appropriate instruction, services, and opportunities for gifted and talented learners.”

Grayson will be featured on the VA Gifted’s website and in a video for the organization. He will also be invited to attend the general session of the Virginia Association for the Gifted’s fall conference or seminar.
