Metz Middle School Peer Mentors
October 19, 2017...Metz Middle School students are learning about leadership by mentoring a pre-K class from Haydon Elementary.
Eighteen seventh and eighth grade female students have been assigned a "buddy" in Mrs. Sperow's pre-K class at Haydon Elementary School for the 2017-2018 school year. The middle school students have accepted the opportunity to develop leadership skills in a segment of their Health and Physical Education class, under the guidance of Metz teacher Mrs. Ronda Brown.
During this endeavor, the student mentors will begin working on the basic curriculum for Leadership in addition to participating in the required Health and Physical Education unit of studies. The framework for the middle school students will be:
- Begin developing knowledge of self and others
- Defining Leadership
- Developing Leadership skills and practices
- Practicing Leadership through Service
Metz students are not the only ones to benefit from the program. The preschool students are developing a friendship with the mentors, and the necessary and strong foundation for beginning school successfully.
