MCPS Wins 'Green Schools' Challenge
November 14, 2018...Manassas City Public Schools (MCPS) is one of three school divisions to receive a top award in the 2018 Virginia School Boards Association’s (VSBA) Green Schools Challenge.
The friendly competition encourages the implementation of specific environmental policies and practical actions that reduce the carbon emissions generated by both the local school division and the broader community, according to a VSBA press release. This is the tenth year the awards were given out, according to the release.
MCPS won the category for student population 5,001-10,000 and was recognized at the VSBA Annual Convention held in Williamsburg.
Green Schools Challenge Winners
- Patrick County Public Schools (Student Population Under 5,000)
- Manassas City Public Schools (Student Population 5,001 – 10,000)
- Fairfax County Public Schools (Student Population 10,001 & Up)
