Metz Students Advance to National Science Bee
February 24, 2020 - Four eighth grade students from Metz Middle School have qualified for the National Science Bee Competition after a successful showing at regionals this past weekend.
Regional qualifiers were held Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, in Alexandria. After three preliminary rounds, Isaac Hertz was awarded second place overall and qualified to compete at the National Science Bee Competition. Other Metz students who qualified include: Kaya Graham, Audrey Peters and Nina Nicoletti.
These students are enrolled in the Integrated Math and Science (IMS) class at Metz taught by Carey Hancey-Shier.
The national competition takes place in Chicago in June, and will further test the students’ science knowledge, including biology, chemistry, physics, engineering and more.
