Ms. Laura Griffiths

My name is Laura Griffiths and this is my sixth year as one of the fabulous Library/Media Specialists at Metz.  I have a BA in English from Mary Washington College and an MS in Elementary Education from the University of Mary Washington.  I am endorsed to teach PreK-6 and prior to working for MCPS I was a pre-K teacher for five years in Virginia.  I received an MEd in School Library and Information Technology from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, after which I obtained my PreK-12 Library/Media endorsement.  Not surprisingly, I am a life-long reader of prose and poetry.

It is my goal to make the Media Center at Metz an inviting, comfortable space for students and staff and to foster a love of reading in students.

Mrs. Karen Honan

My name is Karen Honan and this is my 6th year here at Metz Middle School as one of the Library Media Specialists.  Before working at Manassas City Public Schools I worked for 13 years in Prince William County.  Prior to that I worked in Texas as a teacher for 12 years and an elementary library media specialist for one year.

I received my undergraduate degree at Texas Lutheran College, now Texas Lutheran University with a degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Reading.  I also obtained my master’s degree in Library and Information Science at the University of Texas at Austin.

My goal is to establish the love of reading to the students here at Metz.  I truly believe if they find that one book that hooks them it will be the start they need to make them readers for life.
