Mr. Gary Morris
Principal
Gary Morris is serving in his 1st year as the proud principal of Grace E. Metz Middle School. Over the course of his 26 years in education, Gary has served in a number of capacities including Technology Education Instructor, Technology Coordinator, Assistant Principal, Administrator of Adult Education, and Principal. All of his varied experiences have served to shape his philosophy that we are all responsible for all students who enter our doors. Mr. Morris believes in creating a Family theme that should exist within the walls of Metz Middle School and is committed to developing an environment where all students and staff feel nurtured, valued, and contributing members of their learning community.
Gary has spent the majority of his time in education at the high school level but has developed a true desire to work at the middle school level because he has always desired to impact students as early as possible. Gary continues to be committed to serving every student as an advocate, instructional leader, team builder, and mentor and looks forward to carrying on that commitment at Metz.
Mr. Morris is a two-time graduate of Norfolk State University where he earned a B.S. in Electronics Technology and his M.A. in Teaching Technology Education. His Education Specialists degree in Supervision and Instruction was earned from Virginia Tech. He has served as a mentor teacher and lead administrator in multiple schools and has been recognized as the Cluster 5 Principal of the Year. He is also a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Mr. Morris hopes to close out his educational career in MCPS and leave behind a legacy of lifelong learners who will in turn find a way to give back to their community as much as he has put into them.
