Ms. Shannon McAteer

I began my teaching career in St. Mary's County, Maryland, in 1997 after obtaining my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from East Carolina University. While teaching art at Esperanza Middle School, I earned my master's degree with an emphasis on curriculum and instruction. I then transferred to my alma mater, Great Mills High School, where I taught both art and theater for four years. After I became endorsed to teach theater, I transferred to Leonardtown High School to start up a full-time theater program. In 2006, I moved to Virginia and taught theater at George Washington Middle School in Alexandria City prior to joining Mayfield Intermediate, where I returned to teaching art in 2010. Currently, I am one of three art teachers at Mayfield. In 2009, I completed the Educational Leadership Certificate Program at James Madison University and became certified in PreK-12 English as a Second Language and K-12 Health/PE.
