Ms. Tori Savas
My name is Tori Savas and I am a Reading Support Teacher at Haydon Elementary. This will be my eighth year teaching at Haydon, and my first year in this new role. I love teaching at my former elementary school! I graduated from the College of William and Mary, with my B.A. in Music and my M.A. in Elementary Education with a Literacy emphasis. I also graduated with my M.S. in Reading from Old Dominion University, and have an endorsement as a K-12 Virginia Reading Specialist. I am currently working on my Ed. D. in Curriculum & Instruction, with an emphasis in Literacy Leadership, through the University of Virginia.
I am looking forward to working with the K-4th grade students at Haydon to help them become better readers, writers, and critical thinkers. I believe in using evidence-based practices to best support the literacy skills of all students, and plan to use a blend of explicit phonics instruction, vocabulary and language acquisition, and morphology to support their decoding and reading comprehension skills.
