I am Yahaira Felix Gonzalez, proudly born and raised in Carolina, Puerto Rico. I am a bilingual teacher (Spanish / English) and I speak English as a second language. I have lived in Virginia for eleven years and am the mother of a fourteen-year-old teenage girl. I really enjoy spending time with my family in my free time. I have worked with children of all ages for ten years and six of them have worked in bilingual preschools in Fairfax city and Georgetown DC.

I have a bachelor's degree from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico in Economic and Administrative Sciences with a concentration in Marketing in 2005. Through Penn State (Better Kid Care Program) I obtained a Child Development Associate (CDA) certification in 2019. The Council for Professional Recognition is a leader in the credentialing of early childhood educators worldwide, who awarded me the CDA credential. The credential are well prepared to foster the social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth of young children. This year and through the University of Virginia at WISE (UVA-Wise) I completed studies of Foundations of Special Education- Characteristics & Legal Aspects, with which I obtained my certification as a teacher of the Virginia Department of Education

I have been working for MCPS for four years. I started out as a long term substitute teacher, Instructional Assistant grade level 1st to 4th and Multi-Cat Instructional Assistant. This year I have the opportunity to work as a Cross Cat Teacher in the Special Education Department at RC Haydon Elementary School. I am very happy and excited to start this new adventure in this new school year 2023-24. I look forward to serving as an inspiration to our children, families and community. That we can work by joining efforts for their well-being, with a great sense of responsibility and being a living example for them, the students who are the future of our nation.

 Soy Yahaira Felix Gonzalez, orgullosamente nacida y criada en Carolina, Puerto Rico. Soy profesora bilingüe (español/inglés) y hablo inglés como segundo idioma. He vivido en Virginia durante once años y soy madre de una adolescente de catorce años. Disfruto mucho pasar tiempo con mi familia en mi tiempo libre. He trabajado con niños de todas las edades durante diez años y seis de ellos han trabajado en escuelas preescolares bilingües en la ciudad de Fairfax y Georgetown DC. 

 Tengo un bachillerato de la Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico en Ciencias Económicas y Administrativas con concentración en Mercadeo en 2005. He estado trabajando para MCPS durante cuatro años. Comencé como maestra sustituta a largo plazo, asistente de instrucción de primer a cuarto grado y asistente de instrucción de SPED Multi-categorias. Este año tengo la oportunidad de trabajar como maestra de Categorias Cruzadas en el Departamento de Educación Especial de la Escuela Primaria RC Haydon. Estoy muy feliz y emocionada de comenzar esta nueva aventura en este nuevo año escolar 2023-24. Espero servir como inspiración para nuestros niños, familias y comunidad. Que podamos trabajar uniendo esfuerzos por su bienestar, con un gran sentido de responsabilidad y siendo un ejemplo vivo para ellos, estudiantes quienes son el futuro de nuestra nación.
