Hello, welcome to second grade with Mrs. Huff. I have been a teacher for many years with experience at two Manassas City schools. I have a degree in Education as well as a master's degree in Reading. My time as a teacher has taught me so much. One thing I know is that teaching is an "art," not a science. Teaching is about reaching children and inspiring them to do more than they believe they can. This cannot be done through planned out procedures. It is done by teachers who see children as people who are growing to be their best selves. The motto in my class is "Persevere, Never Give Up!" I also teach children to believe this about themselves, "I have grit and I won't quit!"

I have two adult children and a dog named Cooper. All my students hear about Cooper and stories about my children. My extended family has been in Manassas since the 1800's. I have lots of history about our city to share. I love to sing, dance, and make the classroom a fun place to be...why? Because we all must be in our classroom together for 180 days. It should be a place of learning, living, and being a small community. People in this community will experience a small snipit of life with their classmates and me. This includes fun, discipline, learning, growing, being challenged, smiling and some frustration that leads to greater growth. 

I will do my best to teach your child. I will need your assistance in many ways. As I have said to parents each year of my teaching career, "You were your child's first teacher. NEVER give up that job!" I am with you on this 2nd grade journey.
