The School Social Worker integrates training in education and social work, knowledge and skills in curriculum, learning styles, family dynamics, mental health and behavior management and applies it to children who are experiencing academic and behavioral difficulties.
- Coordinates appropriate health, welfare, and other community services
- Home visits to assess student/family needs for referrals
- Develops and implements short-term and ongoing interventions in the school and/or home setting
- Assists schools with appropriate interventions regarding student absenteeism and offers consultations as needed
Mrs. Romero is excited to be serving as one of the School Social Workers in Manassas City Public Schools. The schools that she covers are Metz, Mayfield, and Baldwin Intermediate School. She is at Metz Monday through Wednesday, Mayfield Thursday and Friday, and Baldwin as needed. Mrs. Romero received her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Kentucky. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching movies, and rereading Harry Potter. Mrs. Romero looks forward to continuing to offer support to students, families, and the community.
