General Music & Chorus

Akane has been a music teacher since 2019. She comes from southwestern Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). Her ensemble experience include singing in IUP's University Chorus and playing trumpet in the university's Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Marching Band, and various chamber ensembles. Prior to Manassas City, she worked in Port Allegany School District for three years as a PreK-6 general music & chorus teacher. 

In her free time, Akane likes to spend time with family and friends. She loves learning about new cultures, food, and history. Through the music program at MCPS, she hopes to add to the Manassas community and help students appreciate the arts. Akane became a music teacher because many of her past teachers have supported her in her life and education. She hopes to continue the tradition of looking out for our students and community.
