Ms. Amanda Jones
Hello! My name is Amanda Jones, and I am the fifth- and sixth-grade gifted and talented resource teacher at Mayfield. Also this year, I am teaching a section of 6th-grade pre-algebra for the first time.
This is my fifth year teaching at MCPS. I started my teaching career over 20 years ago in New York City, where I taught math and social studies to grades 6-8. After that I had a variety of jobs, including newspaper reporter, software developer, and paralegal in a big international court case - a job that took me to Africa and Europe many times for many years.
I absolutely love working with kids. My favorite grades to teach (so far) are 4-6, and my favorite subjects are history, current events, math, and critical thinking (puzzles!).
I love Manassas City and have lived here since 2011. I’m also the proud parent of two MCPS students - one at Osbourn and one at Mayfield.
