• ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Language)

    The Metz English for Speakers of Other Language instructional model is designed to embrace and nurture our culturally diverse population.  The goal of the model is to build on the four modalities of listening, speaking, reading and writing in the English Language.  Students receive academic support based on their level of proficiency of the English Language.  Proficiency is determined by the use of the WIDA diagnostic test.  ESOL instruction is provided in a self-contained environment, a sheltered immersion environment where students are team taught by a core academic area teacher and an ESOL teacher, as a required elective to enhance comprehension and writing, or through in class consultation and monitoring.
