Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Donald Frischkorn
The School Board of the City of Manassas has named Donald J. Frischkorn, Jr. as the new principal of Mayfield Intermediate School, effective July 2, 2018. Frischkorn has served as an assistant principal for Manassas Park Middle School since 2013, overseeing the school-wide one-to-one computer initiative, the positive behavioral support system, student attendance, and providing supervision for the diverse afterschool programs offered by the school.
Prior to becoming assistant principal at Manassas Park Middle School, Frischkorn served as assistant principal at Cougar Elementary, Manassas Park’s PreK through second grade school for a year and as assistant principal at C.M. Bradley Elementary School in Fauquier County for two years. He began his teaching career as a language arts and math teacher in 2005 at Manassas Park Elementary School and has also taught sixth grade in Manassas Park. Mr. Frischkorn says he has built his career on several beliefs, one of which is based on the idea that relationships are vital for the success of students, staff, parents, and the community. “I believe my experiences, both as a leader of curriculum and assessment, as well as my successes at the intermediate classroom level, have prepared me to support the vision of Mayfield Intermediate School and of Manassas City Public Schools,” he said. He holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the Pennsylvania State University and a master’s degree in education, administration and supervision (educational leadership) from the University of Virginia. He will complete his doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies this summer from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
