Ms. Elizabeth Stone

Ms. Stone looks forward to each and every school year because she is given the opportunity to make a difference in our youth. She has been involved in the field of education for thirty years, and has taught in Manassas for fourteen years. When starting with Manassas City Schools, Ms. Stone taught third grade at Weems Elementary and then taught 6th grade at both Mayfield and Baldwin Intermediate Schools. This will be her first year teaching fifth grade. Prior to coming to Manassas, Ms. Stone taught first grade in Prince William County for a year. Ms. Stone has an Associates of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Northern Virginia Community College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Organizational Development from Eastern Mennonite University. She earned her Post-Baccalaureate Licensure in Early Childhood Education from Eastern Mennonite University and is currently studying Mathematics Leadership at George Mason University. She is endorsed in Early Childhood Education, Pre-K through 6; Algebra 1; and History, K-12.

At the age of fifteen, Ms. Stone began working with children while she was in high school. It was then that she realized how much she enjoyed helping students learn and grow in order to become strong, confident young adults who will be ready to make their difference in this world. As a child, Ms. Stone moved several times, which meant she attended several schools. As a military wife of seven years, she has lived in both Arizona and Alaska. In fact, she had her first child while living in Arizona, and her second and third while living in Alaska. Ms. Stone's children are now married and have children of their own, giving Ms. Stone seven grandchildren to spoil.

Although Ms. Stone has worked in other fields along the way, she has always come back to education. She believes that each and every child should have the opportunity to reach his or her goals, and with a strong education, each child will be able to do whatever he or she sets out to do. One of Ms. Stone's favorite quotes is from Harriett Tubman, "Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world."
