Degrees and Certifications:
I am excited to be PLTW coordinator/coach at Baldwin Elementary as we begin our third year of implementing PLTW. I began my journey at Baldwin 18 years ago as a fourth-grade teacher. I feel like I have been on a trajectory toward my current position since I started here. After teaching fourth grade for several years, I transitioned to teaching only science and social studies for first, second, and third-grade students. Science and social studies had always been my favorite subjects to teach so I embraced the chance to dive deep into those subjects with the students. When the Science/STEM coach position was developed, I was able to move into that position to further hone my craft and learn more about science education for elementary students. Bringing best practices and supporting our teachers in the development of STEM education became my focus. I have become passionate about championing science, technology, engineering, and math education along with the Innovator Skills of collaboration, communication, critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills for our students. It is essential for our students to gain a strong foundation in STEM education and the Innovator Skills to become competitive in our world. PLTW combines the best of project-based learning with STEM education and the Innovator Skills to provide world-class lessons and materials for our students.
