Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Eric Godwin

My name is Eric Godwin and this will be my first year teaching at Metz Middle School, but I will be starting my 8th year teaching overall. This year I will be teaching 7th Grade Life Science and 8th Grade Physical Science.

I am originally from Dunn, North Carolina and graduated from the University of Mount Olive in May of 2011, with my bachelor's degree in Agriscience Education. On June 15, 2011, I was hired as the Agricultural Education teacher at Columbia Early College High School where I taught 8th-12th Agriculture. While I was there I taught Exploring Biotechnology, Exploring Agriscience, Agriscience Applications, Agricultural Mechanics 1, 2, and Small Engines. In 2014, I graduated with my master's degree in Agricultural Education from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. On July 1, 2015, I was hired as the Agricultural Education Teacher at Washington High School. While at Washington, I taught Horticulture 1 and Horticulture 2-Landscaping; Agriscience Applications, and Animal Science 1 and 2. On July 24, 2018, I was recognized as the North Carolina Agricultural Teacher's Association 2018 Northeast Region Agriculture Teacher of the Year.

I enjoy spending time with my wife Channing, who is from Manassas, and my family and friends. I am a huge fan of the Carolina Panthers, Washington Nationals and Charlotte Hornets. I also love to hunt and fish.

I am really excited about joining the Metz family and looking forward to the school year learning about my students.
