Ms. Coradetti

I am an ESOL Teacher serving first grade students at Baldwin Elementary. I have been teaching since 2003, when I started as an English instructor at a language institute in Venezuela. Since then, I have served language learners of all ages in Nepal, Mexico, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Virginia. I taught in Prince William County Public Schools for six years before joining Manassas City Public Schools in 2015, and have served students at Mayfield Intermediate, Osbourn High School, and now Baldwin Elementary. I am also an Adjunct Professor at Northern Virginia Community College, where I teach ESOL to adults.

I am a proud graduate of Wellesley College, where I studied anthropology and biology. I received my Master's of Arts in Teaching degree from School for International Training in 2006. English is my native language; I am also fluent in Spanish, and conversational in Nepali.

I love helping students from other places learn English, gain confidence, and be successful. Having experienced first-hand what it can be like to learn other languages and adapt to different environments and cultures, I understand that It can be exciting, but difficult and scary too. I had some wonderful people to support and guide me when I was living abroad in Venezuela and Nepal, and so I'd like to think I am paying it forward by doing the same for those that come here to get an education and make a life. I raised a step-daughter who joined my family at age seven from Venezuela, knowing no English, so I also have the unique experience of being both an ESOL teacher and parent. My daughter became an AP English student and is now attending Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA on a scholarship. I'm experiencing the elementary school parenting years once again with my two little boys, who attend school in Woodbridge.

¡Hola!
