I'm excited that the 2023-2024 school year is my sixth year at Baldwin. My awesome students have made my time in MCPS a wonderful experience! Although I always thought teaching middle schoolers was niche, I've found teaching my special education students in Kindergarten thru 2nd grade extremely rewarding. I have a wonderful team of teachers to work with, and together we have made huge progress with our students the past 5 years, even during virtual learning! In the past 35 years, I have worked in Culpeper County Schools as a SPED teacher at the elementary level (1 year), then I was with Prince William County Schools for 18 years as a full-time SPED teacher, in both elementary and middle school levels. While my three grown children were in middle school/high school, I was working as a substitute teacher in PWCS as well as other jobs that allowed me to spend more time at home with them. In 2012, I returned to full time teaching in the Autism classroom and then moved to MCPS in 2018.
I am a grandmother, Mimi, to three beautiful granddaughters, ages 5, 14 months, and 3 weeks old. Our family enjoys vacations in the Outer Banks, hiking, and playing/singing music together. My son, Ethan, is the daddy of our two oldest granddaughters and works as a music therapist for a hospice. My middle daughter, Abby, finished her master's degree at Liberty University and is a Children's Ministry Director at a church in Maryland, and my youngest daughter, Emma, and her husband just had their first child, and live and work in Maryland as well. This year I'm so grateful that things have begun to be back to normal after our years of learning virtually part or full time because of the pandemic. We're going to have a fantastic year, with growth both socially and academically in our classroom!
