My name is Brittney McMullan and I teach 2nd grade here at Haydon Elementary School! I have a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southern University and a Master's in Reading, Language, and Literacy Education with a concentration in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Georgia State University. 

This is my fifth year in Manassas City Public Schools. I taught kindergarten here for two years before moving up to 2nd! Prior to teaching at Haydon, I taught abroad for four years at an American curriculum international elementary school in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where I taught kindergarten for three years and first grade for one year. Prior to moving abroad, I worked in kindergarten for five years in Arlington Public Schools. 

I am very excited to continue my journey at Haydon! This is my first year in the Dual Language Program and I am very excited for the year ahead! I look forward to creating a classroom community where each student is encouraged to take risks and think outside the box. If a child is too scared to take a risk, then they miss out on the opportunity to discover something entirely wonderful!

Tengo una licenciatura en Educación Infantil de la Universidad del Sur de Georgia y una maestría en Educación en Lectura, Lenguaje y Alfabetización con especialización en Enseñanza de Inglés para Hablantes de Otros Idiomas de la Universidad Estatal de Georgia.

Este es mi cuarto año en las Escuelas Públicas de la Ciudad de Manassas. ¡Enseñé kínder aquí durante dos años antes de cambiar al segundo grado! Antes de enseñar en Haydon, enseñé en el extranjero durante cuatro años en una escuela primaria internacional de currículo estadounidense en Riyadh, Arabia Saudita, donde enseñé kínder durante tres años y primer grado durante un año. Antes de mudarme al extranjero, trabajé en el kínder durante cinco años en las Escuelas Públicas de Arlington.

¡Estoy muy emocionada de continuar mi vida profesional en Haydon! Espero crear una comunidad de clase donde se alienta a cada estudiante a tomar riesgos y pensar de manera innovadora. Si un niño tiene demasiado miedo para tomar un riesgo educativo, ¡pierde la oportunidad de descubrir algo completamente maravilloso!
