Mr. Christopher Short

Mr. Short teaches band and orchestra at Baldwin Intermediate.  He has been teaching in Manassas City Public Schools since 2004. Prior to coming to Baldwin Intermediate School, he taught at Metz Middle School, and Baldwin Elementary School. In 2020 he was honored as the Washington Post Teacher of the Year for Manassas City Public Schools.

Originally from Saline, Michigan, Mr. Short holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Penn State University and a Master of Music in French Horn Performance from Michigan State University.

In addition to teaching, Mr. Short is an active performer. He serves in the DC National Guard in the 257th Army Band where he plays the French Horn and serves as the band's drum major. He is also the principal horn player with the Manassas Symphony Orchestra.

When he is not teaching or playing music, Mr. Short enjoys, traveling, cooking, golfing, skiing, hiking, and learning German. He is a fan of Penn State Football, and pro teams from Detroit.
