Mr. Wassum

My name is Andrew Wassum and I am the Director of Bands here at Osbourn High School. I was born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia, where I participated heavily in my own school band programs. I attended the Shenandoah Conservatory of Shenandoah University and the University of South Carolina. I started my teaching career at James Kenan High School in North Carolina, where I was given the Beginning Teacher of the Year Award. I am an MCPS Apple Award winner, and last year I was named the Oustanding 2nd Year Educator for Osbourn High School. I am so thrilled to be in my fifth year of teaching, and to be working with such an awesome group of students!

Last year, the OHS Band program was recognized as a Virginia Honor Band for the first time in 21 years, and the Performing Arts Department earned Blue Ribbon Status for the first time in the history of Osbourn High School. This year, I am excited to take the band program at OHS even further!

The ensembles I direct at Osbourn include: Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, Advanced Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Band, Show Choir Band, Musical Pit Orchestra, and The Osbourn High School "Screaming Eagles" Marching Band.
