Ms. Sandra Smith-Jones

My name is Sandra Smith-Jones. I have been in education for twenty years as a practitioner, policymaker, and advocate. I have served as a teacher, administrator, instructional coach, and professional mentor. I also served as an elected school board member in my hometown, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Throughout my educational career, I have taught high school and middle school English in both comprehensive and alternative education programs in the Tidewater Virginia area. I also had an opportunity to serve as a middle school assistant principal on the eastern shore in Virginia and an adjunct professor at my alma mater, Hampton University. My teaching and leading experiences include public, charter, and private schools. Before returning to Virginia seven years ago I served as an assistant principal in Saudi Arabia and school leader in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

I earned my bachelor's degree from a Historically Black College and University, Hampton University. I also earned a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Regent University in Virginia Beach.

I currently serve as the Reading Interventionist. I teach reading to both seventh and eighth-grade students. I also serve as the National Junior Honor Society Adviser and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion School Liason.
