5th and 6th Grade ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
Our ESOL program is designed to embrace and nurture our culturally diverse population. The goal of the program is to build on the four modalities of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the English language. Students receive academic support based on their level of proficiency of the English language. Proficiency is determined by the use of the state mandated World-class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) diagnostic test. ESOL instruction is provided in a content-mainstreamed environment in which students are assisted with their academic subjects in their content classes.
