Mrs. Tammy Shaffer

I am privileged to be at JDES serving as one of our school counselors. I graduated from David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.  I then earned my Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Virginia Tech.  As a School Counselor, I have worked in both Fairfax and most recently Fauquier County.

I look forward to working with and getting to know all our Jennie Dean Elementary students and their families. Previously, I have worked in Fairfax and Fauquier County Public Schools as a school counselor.  As a part of the school counseling program, I will have the opportunity to teach valuable lessons to our students, work with many of our students in small counseling groups, and individually counsel students as needed.

As a counselor, my goal is to support our students and assist them as they reach their highest potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

I am excited to be serving as a full-time school counselor at Jennie Dean Elementary. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and my Master of Science degree in School Counseling from Arkansas State University. Previously, I was an elementary school teacher before becoming a school counselor. I have experience counseling all grade levels in K-12.
