Ms. Crystal Jefferson
I began my career in education as a teacher in Rochester, New York and Fairfax County, Virginia, teaching middle and high school English. From there, I went to Albany, New York to serve as Associate for Instructional Services for the New York State Education Department. In the Office of Early Education and Reading Initiatives, I supported the implementation and management of annual grant funding to support K-3 reading initiatives in schools throughout the state.
In 2008, I joined the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) serving as Licensure Administrator, Deputy Chief, Human Resources, and Chief, Office of Talent and Culture. In these roles, I led the district’s efforts to attract and retain outstanding teachers, principals, and central office staff. After 14 years in administration, I decided to return to the classroom as a teacher and mentor to support student learning and development.
I joined the Metz Mustangs team in 2018 and have served as a Long-Term Substitute Teacher, Classroom Facilitator, Alternative Education Teacher, and now, as a Special Education Teacher.
