My name is Shelly Ryan-Schrader and I am the Weems Elementary School Librarian. I have a Master of Science degree from Longwood University in Library and Information Science and this is my fourth year working in the Weems school library.
My goals are to ensure that students are effective users of ideas and information, to empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. I look forward to having an exciting library program that will include the Virginia Readers’ Choice program, book fairs, author visits, PBL projects, Coding, makerspacers, and more.
While not working in the library, I enjoy family time with my husband Ernest and son Christopher. I enjoy reading, watching the Washington Commanders football games, running, hiking, traveling (I love the beach!), and walking our Yorkshire terrier, Zach. I am very excited about being your librarian and look forward to a fabulous school year!
