Mrs. Alice Blackstone
I am a first grade teacher at Weems Elementary School in Manassas City Public Schools. I earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from Mary Washington College, now the University of Mary Washington. I earned a Master’s of Education degree in reading from the University of Virginia and a Master’s of Education degree in ESOL from George Mason University. I am endorsed to teach nursery school through fourth grade, as well as, being a reading specialist and ESOL teacher. I am endorsed to teach gifted education, also.
I have experience teaching Kindergarten through third grade as a classroom teacher. I taught first, second, third and fourth grades as an ESOL teacher. I have been a reading specialist and reading interventionist for several years, also.
The majority of my teaching experience was in a rural county named Lancaster County, Virginia. I taught first, second and third grade as a homeroom teacher at Lancaster Primary School. I was also a reading specialist there and worked with students, teachers and families. I have been excited about being part of the Manassas City Public School System since 2009. I was a reading specialist, reading interventionist and Kindergarten teacher at Weems Elementary School. I was an ESOL teacher at Round Elementary School. I have taught first grade as a classroom teacher and an ESOL teacher at Jennie Dean Elementary School for three years.
I love teaching. I enjoy working with children. My greatest joy is seeing students learning and applying their knowledge. My main goal in teaching is to instill in students a love of learning and success that will last them a lifetime.
